We are saddened to announce the passing of Dabney Coleman, the beloved actor known for his incredible performances in iconic films such as 9 to 5, Boardwalk Empire, and Tootsie. At the age of 92, Coleman peacefully departed on Thursday at his home in Santa Monica.
In a heartfelt statement, his daughter Quincy Coleman described her father’s remarkable life. She said, “My father crafted his time here on Earth with a curious mind, a generous heart, and a soul on fire with passion, desire, and humor that tickled the funny bone of humanity. As he lived, he moved through this final act of his life with elegance, excellence, and mastery.”
Quincy Coleman went on to describe her father as “a teacher, a hero, and a king,” and added, “He was a gift and blessing in life and in death as his spirit will shine through his work, his loved ones, and his legacy eternally.”
Dabney Coleman was a true master of his craft, leaving an indelible mark on the world of film and television. With over 60 films and numerous TV projects to his name, his illustrious career spanned more than six decades. Coleman’s versatility and talent as an actor were evident in his portrayal of unsympathetic characters, earning him widespread acclaim.
